My husband and I really wanted them to be our forever vet but they were too careless for us. The front office staff is very kind but that is the only good thing I can say about them. Both of our XL breed dogs have been testing positive for heart worm since Spring of 2024. They told us multiple times that all they need is a 12 month ProHeart preventative shot unless they test positive more than 3 or 4 years in a row. (We later learned that this means Mayflower was just waiting for the adult worms in our dogs' hearts to grow bigger and bigger.) We also brought up our concern about our Lab's hip problems she has had since she was a 2 month-old puppy. The vet did not even bring up X rays as an option and didn't examine her hips. He simply heard me say "she acts like her back legs and hips hurt" and told us it was "probably arthritis" without really looking into it and gave her an NSAID. Mind you, she was a young puppy at the time he said it was arthritis. After multiple friends who work with animals flagged to us that it is odd to not treat heartworm positive dogs, we took them to a different vet in Conway for a second opinion. The staff in Conway were in shock that this vet did not want to treat the adult worms in our dogs' hearts and immediately recommended REAL treatment (which is not just a 12 month preventative). The vet in Conway also did an exam of our Lab's hips without us even bringing it up and he noticed her walk and asked to do imaging at her next visit to rule out hip dysplasia and what he thinks is a TORN ACL!! That part broke my heart. We have lost trust in Mayflower Animal Clinic and we feel hurt at the lack of motivation they have to examine, diagnose and properly treat our dogs. We don't feel that our dogs would be properly treated if we took them back. (I will not be naming the vet we went to in Conway because I don't want to start beef amongst Faulkner County vets, but their staff seemed floored when we told them about Mayflower's "treatment plan" for our dogs, if you can even call it that.)
